Should I Ask For Permission Or Consent To Text A Customer?

You are required by A2P 10DLC Standards to ask for consent to text a customer.

We do not have a way to automatically ask for consent to text a customer in our system and we also do not generally suggest texting a customer to ask if it’s ok to text them.

If you do prefer to gain permission or consent to text a customer before you send them a message you can gather consent at your front counter while the customer is there, preferably in writing.

An example of one way to do this would be including a check-box on your printed out estimates or invoices that you give to customers with a short explanation stating that you use texting to communicate with your customers. This way they have the option to put in a check mark if they would like to receive texts or they can leave it blank if not.
