How to Move a Vehicle's History in Report Pro

Things To Note

  • This tool allows for the history of a vehicle to be moved to a new vehicle in the event that two vehicles histories were combined, without the need to un-post and repost invoices in the management system. This can happen if a user has changed the year/make/model of a vehicle when the vehicle owner purchased a new vehicle and transferred their tag to that new vehicle.

  • This moves historical records for the vehicle. If the order is still in your Work in Progress, you can change the vehicle

  • Some management systems may not provide a method for recovering deleted vehicles

How To

  1. From your shop management system

    1. If the vehicle has already been created you can skip this step.

    2. If necessary; create a new vehicle under the customer with all the vehicle information. This will generate a new vehicle id in the management system to move the vehicle history to.

    3. If the Year, Make, and Model was incorrectly changed on a vehicle that already has history:

      1. Open the incorrect vehicle and change the Vehicle data back to the original information.

      2. Please Note that there may not be any reference data in your management system to know what the original vehicle data was. If this reference data is not available in your management system you will possibly need to find previous paper copies.

  2. From Report Pro

    1. Select the Tools tab in the Report Pro header

    2. Select the Move Vehicle History button

      1. From the Move Vehicle History pop-up

        1. Step1. Select the FROM vehicle

          1. Select the button to the right marked by ". . ."

          2. From the Customer Vehicle Search pop-up

            1. You can search by Name, Phone, or License

          3. Perform a search

          4. Select the vehicle to be transferred

        2. Step 2. Select Starting Point of Service History To Transfer by selecting the appropriate checkbox

        3. Step 3. Select the TO Vehicle

          1. Select the button to the right marked by ". . ."

          2. From the Customer Vehicle Search pop-up

            1. You can search by Name, Phone. or License

          3. Perform a search

          4. Select the vehicle to be transferred

        4. Select the Perform History Transfer button

  3. From your shop management system

    1. If the old vehicle now has no history and is no longer needed:

      1. Open the vehicle

      2. Delete the vehicle

    2. Please Note that some management systems may not provide a method of recovering deleted vehicles
