File and Web Permissions To Allow

This article should be used as a reference for adding permissions to Anti-Virus programs, Firewalls, and Proxy servers when necessary.

Things To Note

• Allow for programs to change when adding permissions. Failing to set this level permission will mean that a manual permission update will be required every time we update our programs, which can be as often as weekly based on our development initiatives.

• If Intrusion Protection Service (IPS) is active on the firewall or Host Intrusion Protection Service (HIPS) is active on the client computers, specific exclusions are required for our URL's, primarily for the automatic update process that downloads a self-extracting zip file from http://download.boltontechnology.com for each of our programs.

Programs to Allow

The following programs should be added as Scan Exclusions, RealTime (SONAR) scans and set to Always Allow in program control of your Anti-Virus. These files should also be added with Always Allow permissions in your Firewall, whether it be Windows Firewall, Anti-Virus Firewall or a Hardware Firewall on your network.
