How to build a new inspection template in your Next Gear Application

Things To Note

  • You can now create, view, and edit your Next Gear inspections from any work station, tablet, or device form a web browser

  • You will start with a pre-made inspection which you can duplicate and edit or create your own inspection from scratch

How To

  1. Open a web browser and go to  nextgear.boltontechnology.com  

    1. This is the main log in page for the Next Gear application

    2. Enter your Cell Phone number into the text field with the mobile device icon

      1. Select the Send Access Code button

      2. You will receive an Access Code via text message and email to the phone number and account email that was provided

      3. Enter the Access code in the provided text field

      4. To stay logged into your account select the checkbox provided

      5. Select the Sign in button to proceed

        1. Select your shop location by selecting the corresponding button

        2. To Add a new location select the add location button

      6. Proceed to the next step of this page below

    3. To create an account see Create an Account

  1. From the inspection view of the Next Gear application

    1. Select the Settings option from the top right of page (the gear icon)

      1. On the left of the page under the NextGear heading

      2. Select the Inspection Editor button

      3. Select the Plus (+) symbol at the bottom right hand corner of page

        1. From the New Inspection Template pop-up window

        2. Enter the name of the new inspection template you would like create

        3. Select OK to start or Cancel to cancel

 

  • From the Groups page

Groups will keep your inspection points organized, for example you may have a Group Named Brake System on this inspection template and under that you will have all of your brake check point descriptions

  1. To add a group to your newly created inspection, select the Plus (+) symbol button in the bottom right hand corner

    1. From the New Group pop-up window

      1. Type in the name of the desired inspection group. 

      2. Select Ok to confirm or Cancel to cancel

      3. Repeat steps until all of your inspection point group headings are visible. 

 

  • Inspection points are your individual inspection items located under each inspection point

For Example under your Brake System Group Name , you may have multiple inspection points "Front Brakes", "Rear Brakes", "Brake Fluid" , etc.....

  1. You will have to add each point to the template separately

  2. To add an inspection point to an existing inspection group select the group you would like to add the point too from the Groups page

    1. From the Points page

    2. Select the Plus (+) symbol button in bottom right hand corner

      1. From the New Point pop up window

        1. Enter the title of your desired inspection point.. Example: Front Brakes...Belts...Tires

        2. Select Ok to confirm or Cancel to cancel

        3. Repeat the steps until all of your group points are filled out

 

  • You will now need to further define each inspection by adding canned notes and recommendations

Canned Notes will be our most common findings about a certain inspection. Example:  Cracked Belts,  Metal On Metal Breaks,  No Tread On Tires, etc...

Canned Recommendations will be what we expect our clients to do about them. Example:  Replace Belt Today - Its unsafe to drive with or Come back for a re-check in 3 months or No Work needed.

  1. To add Canned Notes or Recommendations

    1. Select The Inspection point you would like to add Notes/Recs to.

    2. From the Notes/Recs page

      1. Select the Plus (+) symbol button from the bottom right hand corner

      2. To add a Note select +NOTE button

      3. From the New Note  pop-up window

        1. Enter the Title of the Note you are creating.  Example: "Brakes below Min Specs"

        2. Enter the description of the Note. Example: "From our curtesy inspection. Our technicians have found that your brakes are below the recommended minimum specification. It is not safe to drive when brakes are in this state."

        3. Select Ok to confirm or Cancel to cancel

      4. To add a Recommendation select the + RECOMMENDATION button

      5. From the New Recommendation pop-up window

        1. Enter the Title of the Recommendation you are creating. Example: "Replace Brakes", "Brakes are good", etc...

        2. Enter a Description for the Recommendation. Example: "Due to our technicians findings, we recommend that you get your brakes replaced today"

        3. Select Ok to confirm or Cancel to cancel

    3. Repeat these steps until your inspection point notes and recs are filled with your most common scenarios
